Congratulations Kids!

The Milwaukee Archdiocese officially welcomed its 11th archbishop, Jerome E. Listecki on Monday, Jan. 4. The archbishop is originally from Chicago, but he’s spent the last five years as Bishop of La Crosse. Now that he calls Milwaukee home, it was nice to learn from you about his new hometown.

Many kids, age 12 and younger, sent him a welcome card or note and included/depicted at least one suggestion on a place he’ll want to visit or an activity in which he’ll want to participate in southeastern Wisconsin. Archbishop Listecki has since received all the well wishes and 10 entries have been selected to receive a four-pack of Milwaukee Wave ticket vouchers to be used at games this season.

Winners are:

Erin Goebel, 12, a sixth grader at Consolidated Parochial Elementary School, Fond du Lac, and member of St. John the Baptist Parish, Johnsburg;

Jacob Archibald, 7, a first grader at St. Joseph School, Wauwatosa;

Clare Landmeyer, 8, a home schooled second grader and member of St. John Vianney Parish, Brookfield;

Mike Schmidt, 11, a sixth grader at St. Thomas School, Waterford;

Harrison and Maddie Rieck, ages 7 and 5 and in second grade and K5 respectively at Blessed Sacrament School, Milwaukee;

Sam Wenberg, 12, a sixth grader at Kohler Public School, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Kohler;

Charlotte Suttner, 8, a third grader at St. John the Baptist School, Plymouth;

Andy Bayona, 11, a sixth grader at St. Dominic School, Sheboygan;

Ethan Symes, a third grader at Port Washington Catholic School, Port Washington;

Madeline Werner, 10, a fifth grader at St. John the Baptist Parish, Plymouth.
