Milwaukee Archdiocese announces ‘Chapter 11 reorganization’

ST. FRANCIS — The Archdiocese of Milwaukee announced Jan. 4 that it is filing a petition for a Chapter 11 reorganization of its financial affairs under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

According to Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki, the decision to file “is occurring because priest-perpetrators sexually abused minors, going against everything the Church and the priesthood represent.”

For more information regarding the filing, or for resources available, visit www.archmil.org. More information will be presented as it becomes available to your Catholic Herald.
